Message to a Survivor
Things can get better. You will never fully forget what happened to you, but you will grow around your trauma. It will never disappear, but it doesn't have to have a happy life.
Message of Healing
My definition of healing is time alone. After nearly 4 years, I lost the definition of myself. Time alone, allowing myself to do whatever I wasn't permitted to by my previous partner was freeing.
Over the course of 3 years and 9 months, my first partner would coerce me into intimacy with him, indirectly telling me he would find someone else if I didn't want to. Or, he would have an attitude for the rest of the day. He told me before that he imagined killing me, has threatened to hit me, and did hit me eventually when I caught him staring at another woman's breasts and confronted him. He thought it was "hot" to "use me". He left me then for another girl when I started realising just how abusive he was.
